Support The Broadway Sam Fund

In 2013, 13-year-old Sam graciously donated his Bar Mitzvah gifts to create the Broadway Sam Fund to help families. With his love of entertainment, Sam's mission was to bring joy to families staying in patient-family housing by providing tickets for local family-friendly activities, sporting events and entertainment…

The Broadway Sam Fund has dramatically increased the resources that the Patient-Family Housing Program can offer and has made a tremendous impact on the families we serve. For many, these activities would be an additional financial stressor. With help from the fund, families are able to enjoy a respite from their hospital experience and participate in activities throughout Boston at no cost.

Since the fund's creation, 2,208 guests enjoyed the following:

  • Boston Duck Tours
  • Puppet Showplace Theatre
  • Regal Cinema
  • The Wheelock Family Theater
  • The Clay Room
  • The New England Aquarium
  • Children's Museum
A note from Sam:
Instead of receiving gifts, I want to help those who are less fortunate. My passions have always been the theater, film, and the Red Sox. The Yawkey Family Inn provides housing—sometimes for weeks or months—to the families of those receiving treatment at Boston Children's Hospital. I thought that those families might like a night out at the theater or a Red Sox game. With the money received, families staying at the Yawkey Family Inn will be able to purchase theater, movie, circus, Red Sox or other tickets during their stay. I hope that for a few hours, the families of sick children will find the happiness that I have always found at a show.
